Uitspraak
In heel Europa worden meer supermini's gekocht dan welk ander type auto dan ook, dus er staat veel op het spel. Het feit dat de Fiesta consequent een van de bestsellers in het Verenigd Koninkrijk is, bewijst alleen maar dat Ford de juiste formule heeft. Terwijl sommige eerdere edities duidelijk op een prijs waren gebouwd, voelt de nieuwste Fiesta aan als een product van hoge kwaliteit, vooral als je hoger in het assortiment koopt. Gelukkig is er, ondanks enkele steile vraagprijzen voor deze posher-modellen, geen tekort aan gebruikte Fiesta's met hoge specificaties, en als je iets ongewoons wilt, is de Fiesta Active pseudo-off-roader misschien de moeite van het bekijken waard. Maar vergeet nooit een mooi onderhouden Fiesta uit het middensegment voor de juiste prijs - het is echt een fantastische auto.
Wanneerdoorwaadbare plaatslanceerde in 1976 zijn allereerste kleine hatchback met voorwielaandrijving, maar realiseerde zich waarschijnlijk niet hoe belangrijk het model zou worden. Of misschien wel, omdat dat eerstfeeststel een sjabloon in dat Ford sindsdien heeft gevolgd.
In de tussenliggende 44 jaar zijn er nog eens zeven generaties van de Fiesta verschenen. Al deze hebben zich gericht op bruikbaarheid en betaalbaarheid, met een gezonde dosis rijplezier voor de goede orde. Een ander ding dat constant is gebleven, is het brede modellengamma dat ervoor zorgt dat er een Fiesta is voor iedereen, of hun prioriteit nu zuinigheid of prestatie is - of een combinatie van beide.

Geschiedenis
De Fiesta van de achtste generatie werd onthuld in november 2016, met Britse auto's die in juli daarop arriveerden. Geprijsd vanaf £ 12.715, was hij verkrijgbaar met een niet-turbo 1.1-liter benzinemotor in 69bhp of 84bhp vormen, of een 1.0 turbo met 99bhp, 124bhp of 138bhp. Dieselfans konden kiezen voor een 1.5 TDCi met 84 pk of 119 pk; alleen de 99 pk sterke 1.0 EcoBoost-benzine was verkrijgbaar met een auto.

In maart 2017 werd het interessanter met de onthulling van de 197 pk sterke Fiesta ST, maar de eerste auto's zouden het VK pas over een jaar bereiken. Net als bij de minder sportieve Fiesta's, werd de ST geleverd met drie of vijf deuren en werd hij aangeboden met de uitrustingsniveaus ST-1, ST-2 en ST-3. In juli 2019 werd de Zetec-uitvoering vervangen door Trend.

Welke moet ik kopen?
De niet-turbo 1.1-liter motor voelt nogal mat aan, en hoewel hij prima is, mist hij de eigenwijsheid van de alternatieven. De diesel is het overwegen waard als je veel kilometers maakt, hoewel we het bij een handgeschakelde versnellingsbak zouden houden, omdat de automatische transmissie lang niet zo glad is.
Instapmodel Style heeft stalen wielen, maar wel airconditioning, elektrische ramen en spiegels voor, plus Bluetooth. De Zetec voegt 15-inch lichtmetalen velgen toe, een verwarmde voorruit,Apple CarPlayen een 6,5-inch touchscreen, terwijl Titanium 16-inch legeringen, privacyglas, 8-inch touchscreen, klimaat- en cruisecontrol, keyless go en automatische ruitenwissers brengt.
Met de Titanium X krijgt u elektrisch bedienbare achterruiten op vijfdeurs, gedeeltelijk lederen bekleding, verwarmde voorstoelen en stuurwielen, plus eersteklas audio. ST-Line-bekleding heeft 17-inch lichtmetalen velgen, sportonderstel en stoelen, plus een bodykit. Vignale brengt gewatteerd leer, een panoramisch zonnedak en een hoge prijs.
Alternatieven voor de Ford Fiesta
De meeste reguliere merken bieden een supermini aan, dus keuze genoeg. In termen van lage prijzen, fatsoenlijke waarde en gemakkelijke beschikbaarheid, deOpel Corsastapelt vrij goed op, maar het is niet zo leuk om te rijden als de Fiesta. De onderling verbondenVolkswagen Polo,SEAT IbizaEnSkoda Fabiazijn goed gemaakt, gemakkelijk om mee te leven en beschikken over efficiënte motoren.

Versnellingsbak
Turbocharged Fiesta-motoren worden standaard geleverd met een handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak, maar de 1.1-liter krijgt alleen een vijfversnellingsbak.
Brandstof economie
Fiesta ST-rijders rijden gemiddeld rond de 28-35 mpg, maar Ford beweert dat 40,4 mpg mogelijk is. Ondertussen hebben 1.0T-bezitters gemiddeld 46 mpg.
Garantie
De Fiesta heeft een garantie van drie jaar of 60.000 mijl, die kan worden verlengd tot vijf jaar of 100.000 mijl wanneer de auto nieuw is gekocht.
Interieur
De Fiesta is nu de kleinste auto van Ford, maar dat betekent niet dat het interieur te weinig ruimte of gadgets heeft. Er is ruimte voor twee volwassenen achterin - zij het met een beetje krap voor mensen langer dan 1,80 meter - terwijl de Fiesta ook wordt geleverd met tal van hi-tech rijhulpsystemen. De pasvorm en afwerking zijn uitstekend, evenals het verfijningsniveau , en het ontwerp van het dashboard is over het algemeen ook aantrekkelijk.
De bagageruimte is concurrerend met 292 liter met de achterbank omhoog, of 1.093 liter met neergeklapte stoelen. Sommigen beweren dat de voorstoelen in de standaard Mk8 niet zo ondersteunend zijn als die in de vorige Fiesta, maar er is geen probleem met de sportstoelen van de ST.

Lopende kosten
Fiesta-bezitters kunnen kiezen tussen onderhoudsschema's: ofwel 12 maanden of 12.500 mijl (wat het eerst komt), of twee jaar of 18.000 mijl. Diensten wisselen tussen klein en groot, met prijzen voor het jaarlijkse schema van respectievelijk £ 215 en £ 295. Ze zijn £ 245 en £ 335 als u kiest voor het regime met een lange levensduur.
Zodra een Fiesta zijn derde verjaardag bereikt, biedt Ford een onderhoudsprogramma met korting aan, genaamd Motorcraft, met een serviceprijs van £ 159. Alle motoren hebben een distributieriem die om de 10 jaar of 200.000 km moet worden vervangen, hoewel we geneigd zijn om deze voor de zekerheid iets naar voren te halen. Het is geen bijzonder goedkope klus, met Ford-dealers die £ 475 vragen om alleen de riem te vervangen, of £ 540 als je ook een zoetwaterpomp wilt laten monteren. Het niet verlengen van deze laatste wordt algemeen beschouwd als een valse besparing.
Herinnert zich
De Ford Fiesta Mk8 is sinds de lancering in 2017 drie keer teruggeroepen. De fabrikant voerde zijn eerste campagne in maart 2018 uit om 4.757 Fiesta's terug bij de dealers te krijgen om een defecte rembekrachtiger te vervangen. De betrokken auto's zijn allemaal geproduceerd in december 2017.
De volgende terugroepactie was veel kleiner en had betrekking op slechts 15 Fiesta's, en werd uitgegeven in december 2019. Dit keer was het probleem dat de bevestigingsbouten voor de achterbank mogelijk niet voldoende waren vastgedraaid, waardoor de stoel los kon komen. De betrokken auto's zijn allemaal in september 2019 in één week gemaakt.
Ten slotte kwam de meest recente terugroepactie in januari 2020; slechts 90 Fiesta's werden getroffen, allemaal gebouwd in mei of juni 2019. Het probleem concentreerde zich op defecte stuurkolommen en de oplossing was om het onderdeel in zijn geheel te vervangen.
Driver Power eigenaar tevredenheid
We zijn grote Fiesta-fans en geven hem vier van de vijf sterren. Zijn glans lijkt echter al te vervagen bij eigenaren, omdat hij in de 2020 slechts een 71e plaats wist te behalenBestuurder Vermogentevredenheidsonderzoek. Er zijn geen opvallende kenmerken, waarbij de kwaliteit van de besturing het hoogste cijfer krijgt (18e van de 75 auto's).
